Playing Hooky? Pay Up!

Published by N/A at 1:03 AM under Random Thoughts

This article shows that it doesn’t pay to play hooky – even if your parents sanction it.  Granted, payment is optional but I wonder how long it will be before it’s not.  It also goes to show you how sensitive schools have gotten to losing any kind of aid money.  When I was going to school, no one thought twice about issuing a snow day if conditions warranted it.  Making up snow days?  Didn’t usually happen unless there were a lot (or if you were in an AP class).  Now, schools hesitate to have snow days and making up snow days is the rule not the exception.

It was very very very rare that days off from school were sanctioned by the parents unless we were close to dying.  Many parents pull their kids out of school for vacations, hair salon appointments, etc.  I wonder how long it will be before schools will start requiring things like this since most rely so heavily on aid dollars to function.
