Bathroom #2 v2.0

Published by DoubleA at 4:38 PM under Random Thoughts

It had to happen eventually, but the second bathroom here is being totally remodeled. A man came today and totally demolished the inside of it. Considering how thick the tile and plaster was, I’m impressed that he got it done in one day. Somehow he managed to pick up a 350 lb. bathtub by himself and load it into his van. I took some pics for you to check out.

The camera I took these on was an older 1.9 megapixel digital so I apologize in advance for the lack of resolution on these.

This is where the sink and vanity were. We are keeping the vanity but changing the top to something darker.

Nice view of the attic. Also shown is the inside of the former ceiling fan that really did nothing for the bathroom in terms of airflow. The new version should be much better.

Pic #3

Notice the nice hole in the floor. Apparently it was rotted there. I think we were lucky that it wasn’t worse than it was. We had a habit of leaving the wet shower curtain outside the tub when done. Just so happens that’s right about where it was too.

I forgot to rotate this pic 90 degrees. This is where the shower head was.

New location for the toilet. I sure hope not! The toilet we are keeping. It’s still in good shape and works great.

Pic #6

The old bathtub…all 350 lbs. of it too. It will be replaced since it has almost no finish left on it.

Pic #7

How lovely that we have the temporary location of the toilet right outside my window. I feel fortunate that this particular window does not open to the outside.

Pic #8

Say bye bye to the old energy efficient window. Don’t know how efficient it really was since there was no insulation around it at all. That explains why no amount of heat in the winter ever made that bathroom feel toasty.

Pic #9

Looks like we have a friend who joined the festivities!

Pic #10

Say bye bye to this sink top and the fixtures. You served us well!

Pic #11

Look at the wonderfully sized chunks of wood and plaster in all this. What a joy that must have been to haul about. Come to think of it – kind of reminds me of an old house we once gutted.

Pic #12

Look at those wonderful sheets of metal. These were used as a base for the plaster.

I’ll have more pictures and updates as the work progresses.

The author of this saga forgot to mention that the HOH ( head of household) installed a pay-for-time meter on the door of the other bathroom. The remodeling job on the old “French Bathroom” has caused a not-unexpected rush on the other.

I like the comment from Yofaddah. haha He should also install a credit card machine for the lingerers in the bathroom. (You know who you are)-haha
