Well, it’s been a few months since I posted anything here. Not much has really inspired me to do so. The winter was long and is finally starting to break so that helps. I could use large doses of sunshine this spring and summer. Being isolated in the house while it’s been so cold outside has not done me any good at all. Who wants to go and walk about in near zero temperatures? Also doesn’t help that it’s freezing cold in my living space despite being surrounded by a wood burning stove and a furnace. Guess this room wasn’t designed for someone to inhabit on a semi permanent basis.
In any event I’ve decided the blog software needed to be updated (for security reasons). I also needed to start posting again but it needs to be different. If you look at past posts, most were gleaned from other sites. I don’t have a problem with that but it starts to feel like all I’m doing is recycling what everyone else has already done. As I look through other blogs that I enjoy visiting on a daily basis, some things become very apparent. They always have nice fresh content for readers to enjoy. The more personal ones have nice posts from the people who run them about themselves and their daily lives. In other words there is plenty of variety to make it interesting. That is what I intend to do here.

Hold The Butter Flavor, Please
Apparently there have been a number of cases where a chemical used to give the buttery flavor to microwave popcorn have caused illness in those who work with it. This article has more details about it. It’s bad enough that people put melamine in pet food but now we have to worry about microwave popcorn. Plain popcorn will be just fine for me, thanks!

It’s Radioactive
When we are kids, we have all sorts of high minded ideals about things we want to accomplish. Most center around things like building a tree fort or riding your bike over big hills - simple stuff like that. Read this article and you will find out what this kid did to get a Boy Scout merit badge. Normally a child’s experiment isn’t the reason to delcare a backyard a superfund cleanup site.

Full Contact Driving
We get overloaded with all sorts directions when we are driving. From the traffic light to stop signs to the new message signs on highways, we have a lot of things to watch for. If you ever wondered what driving would be like without all these things, then this article would give you a pretty good idea. It’s not so chaotic as you would think.

Site Upgrade

What Goes Down, Must Come Up
I found this article about what they found in Puget Sound, Washington. We dump stuff down the drain all the time never thinking it would show up anywhere. I think these findings certainly prove that wrong.
Site Changes
I’ve decided to make some major revisions to way this site operates. In the past, you would see a mix of personal and non-personal items here. I’ve decided to make this site an informational blog only. What this means is that the only items you will see posted here are random news stories or other thoughts on things I have found on the net. I try to post unique items or anything I feel strongly about. Somehow I just didn’t feel comfortable about revealing personal items on here.
Mean Vegetables
This was a funny article from the NY Times that sums up the current state of confusion over what is good and bad about everything:
A blog is born!
Well after many years of toiling with free web sites of various types, I finally decided to get some real web hosting and setup my own site. This is my web blog where I plan on spilling forth all sorts of random thoughts on everything you can imagine. Things from noteworthy news items, funny stuff, announcements, rants, raves, movie and music reviews, etc. Check back often as it will be updated often.
